50-Pound / 70-Inch Monster Northern Pike

This giant Northern Pike was caught in Cedar Lake in Manitoba. Doug Leroux, Regional Fisheries Manager, measured the fish to be 70-inches and estimated to be 50-pounds. The story goes that the man who caught the fish cleaned it and his family ate it.

The fish would have been a Manitoba Record Northern Pike but does not qualify as it ended up as dinner. The present Manitoba record Pike is 59 inches.

It's hard to read the article because of the poor quality. I am trying to get more information on this along with better pictures.
